got fog?

Where in the fog is Pacifica California?

And what’s fog got to do with it?

Located in the county of San Mateo, comprising 12.6 square miles of land 10 miles south of San Francisco along the coast  and valleys with an elevation of 76 feet lies scenic Pacifica.  The average year round temperature is in the 60’s, ocean temperatures average in the 50's.  We have been nicknamed  “the foggy city”, because fog is very prevalent during the summer months when most of the state is experiencing summer sun and heat.  This is typically the result of the daytime heating to the east in the Central Valley forcing the air to rise. As this air rises, air near the surface is pulled in from the west to replace it. When this pull is strong enough, it draws the cool moist air lying over the Pacific Ocean into the coastal regions.  The coastal mountains keep the fog along the beach most of the time.

Pacifica holds an annual "Fog Festival" the last weekend in September. This will be the Twenty-first annual Pacific Coast Fog Fest on September 29th and 30th.  The Fog Fest is a two-day arts and crafts fair with over 190 arts and craft booths, live entertainment, plenty of tasty food and drink to please any appetite.   Show your support for Pacifica by displaying a gotfog? license plate frame.
